According to FootballTransfers, Sir Jim Ratcliffe is extremely dissatisfied with Manchester United’s acquisition of Casemiro, which played a big role in Richard Arnold’s impending departure.
The British billionaire, who is expected to own roughly a quarter of the Premier League’s biggest teams, reportedly thought the experienced midfield player was a “dud” and was baffled by the team’s choice to recruit him from Real Madrid last summer.
According to our sources, Arnold, the club’s CEO, was compelled to announce his resignation earlier this month because of the move.
Real Madrid sold Casemiro to them for €60 million in 2022, plus an additional €10 million. The Brazil international played a significant role in Man Utd’s third-place Premier League result from the previous season, which won them a position in the Champions League.
However, Casemiro’s performance this season has fallen far short of expectations. There have been rumours that he may be amenable to a January transfer to the Saudi Pro League, something Manchester United might be considering given his enormous salary.
That’s part of the reason Man Utd are currently investigating potential No. 6 candidates. Fulham also likes Andre, and it was exclusively disclosed by FootballTransfers that the club had contacted Fluminense to inquire about him.
Man United’s Richard Arnold to depart
Arnold, who has been with Manchester United since 2007, announced his departure from Old Trafford in a statement issued by the club last week.
After serving as Manchester United’s chief executive for 16 years, Richard Arnold has made the decision to retire. In addition to his current position as general counsel, Patrick Stewart will assume the job of interim CEO, with Richard remaining to offer transitional support through the end of December. A permanent CEO will be sought out through a search procedure.
“It has been an amazing privilege to serve this great football club for the past 16 years,” Arnold remarked. The commitment of our staff and supporters has remained unwavering during highs and lows.
I want to express my gratitude to each and every one of them for their devotion and loyalty, and I hope the best for everyone connected to the club in the future.
