Mikel Arteta has identified the striker he wants to sign for Arsenal
Given that Eddie Nketiah and Gabriel Jesus haven’t had a significant effect this season, the Gunners are in serious need of a front man.
The forwards’ inability to convert opportunities is costing Arsenal precious possession.
Ivan Toney is at the top of Mikel Arteta’s team’s shortlist among strikers linked to the team. However, Tim Vickery, a South American football expert, has identified the player the Premier League club is considering.
He said to Sky Sports:
“Marcos Leonardo, a striker for Santos, is one that Arsenal is reportedly considering,” A few months ago, he performed admirably at the Under-20 World Cup.
“Santos was recently demoted. The intriguing thing about him is that if it weren’t for his objectives, they would have been demoted far sooner.
In a losing cause, he has been scoring goals. He’s another one that operates in the penalty area and is really raw. Not a target-man, more along the lines of Romario. He doesn’t provide you with much outside of the penalty area, but he’s excellent in confined areas.
Although there is still much to be desired in his link-up play, Arsenal may find his skill set intriguing as it might complement their other forwards.
There will be rivals vying for his attention. Benfica is also showing a great deal of interest.
Following humiliating losses to West Ham, Fulham, and Aston Villa, the Gunners are hoping to turn around their season.
