Jonah Kusi-Asare, the Swedish superstar, was eventually signed by Bayern Munich after nearly a month of negotiations. He is taller than his compatriot Zlatan Ibrahimović, standing at 1.96 metres, or 6′ 5″. Bayern paid 60 million Swedish krona, or €4.5 million (with two million add-ons), to Kusi-Asare for a deal that runs until June 2027 with the option to extend it until 2029, if the early reports from January 4 are to be believed.
Christoph Freund, the sporting director, expressed his happiness that Jonah chose Bayern to be the next stop in his bright future, saying, “Jonah Kusi-Asare is a young striker with enormous potential.” Despite receiving several offers, he deliberately selected FC Bayern because we were able to persuade him of our desire to see him develop with us. He satisfies every requirement: he is tall, physically strong even at such a young age, technically strong, quick, and has superb finishing. That he will play for FC Bayern in the future makes us very happy.
Bryan Zaragoza, a winger for Granada CF in Spain, is the other deadline day acquisition that the Bavarians have made during the winter transfer season. Zaragoza was originally scheduled to transfer to the Rekordmeister in July, but they needed an additional winger due to injuries to Kingsley Coman and Serge Gnabry. After that, Bayern convinced Granada to agree to an instant transfer and paid them a compensation money to make it happen.
