When he assisted Arsenal in maintaining a 2-2 draw at Anfield today, Gary Neville praised Aaron Ramsdale’s late saves as “world-class.”
Gabriel Martinelli’s exquisite finish in the eighth minute gave the Gunners a great lead and gave them the lead for good on Sunday.
Just before the half-hour mark, Mikel Arteta’s team increased their lead with a well-placed header from Gabriel Jesus, putting them completely in charge.
Yet shortly before the break, Mohamed Salah completed a beautiful play that Arsenal had started, allowing Liverpool to get back into the game.
However, it’s fair to say that the Gunners slightly rode their luck in the second period thanks to a couple of outstanding saves by Aaron Ramsdale that helped them secure a point.
Ramsdale astounds Neville.
After Roberto Firmino had tied the score in the 87th minute, Ramsdale made two outstanding saves to prevent Liverpool from scoring the game-winning goal.
The 24-year-old stopped Ibrahima Konate from scoring a last-second winner before blocking Mohamed Salah.
Neville, who co-commentated on Sky Sports, was astounded by Ramsdale’s performance in the second half.
Neville remarked, “I have to say, Arsenal’s excellent first half. We’ve got six more weeks of this where it’s going to swing and flop.
But as I mentioned before the game, a goalkeeper needs to make big stops throughout a title run. Liverpool just kept coming back, and Ramsdale at the end, did so. At the very end, he made two shots of the highest caliber.
Arteta’s team dropped two points after dominating the first half, which will be a great disappointment to him.
He will also enjoy Ramsdale’s dominant performance between the sticks, which ultimately earned his team a point.
Arsenal’s chances of winning the title were slightly dented by the dropped points, but this point could be crucial at the end of the season, and they can thank their £30 million shot-stopper for the outcome.
