After watching his Liverpool team come from two goals down to draw 2-2 with the Gunners at Anfield on Sunday, Jurgen Klopp insisted that Arsenal should be delighted with a point.
Gabriel Martinelli and Gabriel Jesus helped Mikel Arteta’s team jump out to an early lead, but Mohamed Salah gave Liverpool a response just before halftime.
Later in the second half, Salah missed a penalty, but Liverpool persisted in seeking a response and did so in the 87th minute when Roberto Firmino headed in from close range. Salah and Ibrahima Konate both had significant opportunities as time expired for Liverpool, but both were stopped by outstanding saves from Aaron Ramsdale.
Even though his team was down for the entirety of the game, Klopp was adamant after the game that his team should have won.
For us this season, a little too usual. They score in the first and second situations, so it was a fully open game, according to Klopp, according to Sky Sports.
“We had a good response. In the end, it was a fantastic game. With such late chances, I’m not sure how we didn’t win.
“I can’t seem to decide whether to be glad or not,” I said. Making drawings is easy for me. Arsenal had a strong team, but they had a chance and a duty to lose. They are better off now, I think.
Salah’s goal gave Liverpool a lifeline in the second half after they had been outplayed for most of the first.
Even though the Anfield audience was cheering for his team, Klopp acknowledged that it was a “wild game” and struggled to explain why Konate could not succeed in beating Ramsdale from three yards out in the dying seconds.
‘We had opportunities and instances where we didn’t resolve the issues. a little bit typical. They take advantage of their first opportunity because they are flying. We gained a lot from the goal we scored. It was still going at halftime,’ he continued.
It was an incredible atmosphere. Excellent time to score the equalizer.
We were suddenly in charge of a wild game. A point was at least due to us. If Ibou [Konate] uses his judgment [for a last-second chance], the goal is scored. He may have slipped. He simply had the opportunity.
In a game filled with dramatic moments, the most contentious one undoubtedly occurred right after referee Paul Tierney blew for halftime.
The assistant referee, Constantine Hatzidakis, appeared to react by elbowing Liverpool fullback Andy Robertson in the throat after the Scotsman approached him.
But, he said that he was aware of a fight between the two. Klopp declined to speak further on the issue.
When asked what he thought about the fight, Klopp said, “Nothing.”
I didn’t watch it, but I’m aware that it took place. The photos will speak for themselves if it actually happened.
