One of the most important games in Manchester City history is not scaring Pep Guardiola off.
The Blues have 90 minutes left to overcome Real Madrid and advance to their second Champions League final in three years. Although City is only one victory away from both Premier League and FA Cup glory, they are anxious to win the competition having never done so.
In his press conference for Real Madrid, Guardiola made no mention of the fact that City will win the title this week. He also sidestepped any inquiries about a potential Treble and how that would affect his legacy. The boss has instructed his players to enjoy the occasion while knowing how important Wednesday’s game is.
He smiled and added, “My legacy is already outstanding. Since we are gathered for the competition, the rival, and many other things, we are not nave; we understand how important this place is. In fact, we believe it to be one of the most important places in the world.
“I’ve advised the guys to seize this fantastic opportunity and cherish the moment. To be here is a great blessing. We can make a difference, it rests on us, and all we need to do is be ourselves and win one game to advance to the championship.
“We’ll try everything; I have a great feeling about the team. Whatever happens, I want to thank them very much for getting us back here.”
