According to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, Manchester United intends to make an initial offer for Chelsea star Mason Mount this summer.
According to rumours, the Red Devils plan to add players to their roster during the forthcoming transfer window to help Erik ten Hag’s team continue to rebuild.
The Dutch manager has focused strengthening the attack this summer, but he also plans to strengthen the midfield.
Romeo Lavia, Declan Rice, and Adrien Rabiot have all been suggested as possible targets for Manchester United. However, Mount is becoming a more viable choice lately.
The Englishman’s current contract is about to expire, but he hasn’t committed to a new deal with the Blues. Therefore, it is more likely than not that he will leave Stamford Bridge during the offseason.
Mount to Manchester United
According to rumours, Mount has a £70 million price tag on his head from Chelsea, but United don’t want to match that sum and are willing to sign the Englishman for about £55 million.
Romano stated on Twitter that Man Utd are prepared to make an opening offer to sign Mount this summer, but Chelsea’s high asking price could make it difficult for the Red Devils to complete a move for the 24-year-old.
The midfielder is ‘eager’ on heading to Old Trafford, thus according to the journalist, Manchester United is ‘calm’ at the moment and sure that they can strike a deal for Mount this summer.
Romano authored:
“Manchester United is drafting their initial offer for Mason Mount, but the biggest concern is Chelsea’s stance on the asking amount. Man Utd keep their composure despite Mount’s desire to move; the game is on for strategy.
Although Mount’s natural position is attacking midfielder, he is capable of playing a variety of positions around the middle of the park. He is lively, works very hard without possession, is technically sound, and has the ability to both generate and take advantage of his opportunities.
The 24-year-old is a really skilled player with a lot of promise. Therefore, if Man Utd were able to entice him to Old Trafford during the forthcoming transfer window, it would undoubtedly be a wonderful coup for them.
