Following a missed training session earlier this week, Kyle Walker has helped Manchester City with its conditioning.
Walker is among the 23-man squad that City has named and that has gone to Istanbul today to face Inter Milan in the Champions League final.
On Thursday, the Blues left the City Football Academy. Club employees lined the road outside the training facility and waved flags as the team boarded a coach for Manchester Airport. They will exercise at the Ataturk Olympic Stadium on Friday after arriving in Istanbul, and Pep Guardiola will give a more thorough fitness update on his team.
Walker was the only player absent as City trained in front of the media on Tuesday, but he subsequently told reporters that he was working alone inside and that he was confident in his ability to play in Saturday’s championship game. He has now been named to the travelling squad, which is without any notable absences.
Although both Bernardo Silva and Kevin De Bruyne suffered injuries in the FA Cup final on Saturday, both players assured the public that they would be fine for the Champions League final and that they were still on the team.
Children Rico Lewis and Cole Palmer, who participated in City’s Champions League campaign during the group stage and knockout rounds, were also aboard the plane. Maximo Perrone, who joined the team in January after Argentina was eliminated from the U20 World Cup, is also present in the group.
