The 18-year-old had a significant impact during preseason for Erik ten Hag’s team before suffering an ankle injury in a Houston, Texas friendly match against Real Madrid.

United said he would miss the first few months of the season after he was photographed leaving the NRG Stadium on crutches.
The midfielder is already back in first-team training, giving the Red Devils a much-needed boost.
Casemiro, a midfielder for Brazil, suffered an injury while on international duty. The “small issue” that United called it is sufficient for him to miss the match at Bramall Lane against Sheffield United.
However, it appears that they do now have Mainoo available and in good health. The local kid, who has been a member of the team since he was nine years old, produced a beautiful flicked pass with no look that Ronaldinho would have been proud of.
Ten Hag liked what he saw from Mainoo before his sad accident, while United greats Andy Cole and Bryan Robson both praised him.

The Dutch player acknowledged that after observing Mainoo’s talent in practice, he would have no difficulty providing him playing time.
“He gets his chance because he deserves it,” Ten Hag said in the preseason to United’s official website.
“Because he demonstrated it during our practice and the Under-21 game.
“He shown a high level, and he must now demonstrate it in games. So the preseason is the ideal time to test him.
“He is a possibility to join the game squad and receive playing time. We’ll see, but I have faith that he can pull it off. We just have to wait and see how the test goes.
United hopes to build on its most recent 2-1 comeback victory over Brentford.
