In Formula 1, Max Verstappen had an incredible season, winning his third championship without facing any opposition.
The most wins in a season and the highest victory % in Formula One history were just two of the numerous records that the Dutchman broke during the year.
In 2023, Sergio Perez, a teammate at Red Bull, was his closest competitor, but he finished a massive 290 points ahead.
Despite Perez’s two victories in the first four races of the season, Verstappen won every race after round five, with the exception of Singapore, which is still the only race this year where Red Bull was not victorious.
Verstappen is now gaining ground on Lewis Hamilton, the driver of Mercedes, who holds another record.
Hamilton finished within the points in every race from the British Grand Prix in 2018 until the 48-race Bahrain Grand Prix in 2020.
Only when he tested positive for Covid-19 and was disqualified from the following round did his run come to an end.
In Formula One history, this is the longest streak of consecutive point finishes. However, Verstappen is aiming to break the record and win the title for himself in 2024.
Forty-one races ago, in the 2022 Emilia Romagna Grand Prix, Verstappen started his current run of point-scoring finishes.
Only four of the 41 times the 26-year-old has finished below the podium, he has been inside the top 10 in every race since.
