Conor Bradley and Curtis Jones respond to Liverpool transfer news
Paul Glatzel, who left the Liverpool academy, signed a permanent deal to play for Swindon Town instead of Anfield.
The 22-year-old has terminated a 13-year affiliation with the Reds, who he joined at Under-9 level before advancing through the levels.
With Swindon now ranked fifteenth in League Two, Glatzel’s move was officially announced by Liverpool on their official website on Friday.
A sincere message for the Anfield team and all those associated with the club was posted on Instagram by the player himself.
He received well wishes for the next phase of his career and life from several of his contemporaries, including Curtis Jones, Caoimhin Kelleher, and Conor Bradley.
Paul Glatzel hopes to start his senior career at Swindon following his departure from Liverpool.
Glatzel gained notoriety at Liverpool by rising through the Kirkby ranks and becoming one of the academy’s best players.
In 2018–19, he led Liverpool’s Under-18 team as captain and scored 28 goals to help the young Reds win the FA Youth Cup.
Glatzel attracted the attention of Jürgen Klopp and made appearances in the preseason; however, he was sidelined for ten months after suffering an ACL injury in a friendly that summer.
He has played for the Reds’ Under-21 team in the past, scoring five goals this season, and he has had two loan stints with Tranmere Rovers.
Glatzel will now aim to establish a solid start to his senior career at the County Ground by forming connections with multiple other alumni of the Liverpool academy.
Tom Brewitt, Jake Cain, and Tom Clayton are current players for the Wiltshire-based team; they all rose through the ranks at Kirkby.
The next League Two game Swindon will play is on Saturday at 3 p.m. against Crewe Alexandra.
