Jurgen Klopp made frantic gestures on the touchline, unable to control his rage.
So, during Liverpool’s match against Brentford, what irritated Jurgen Klopp? Now let’s examine…
With Sergio Reguilon, Jurgen Klopp became enraged.
Jota was being stretchered off at the Gtech Community Stadium, but the Germans had already lost Curtis Jones to injury before the first half had even ended.
Reguilon’s late challenge on Conor Bradley, which rightfully resulted in the Spain international receiving a yellow card, is why you can see why Klopp was furious.
Liverpool might have even needed to make three substitutions before halftime if the Tottenham loanee had applied more pressure to the Northern Ireland international.
With Trent Alexander-Arnold, Thiago Alcantara, Dominik Szoboszlai, and Alisson Becker already out, that would
have been a nightmare scenario for Klopp.
With those four already out, losing Jones and Jota is terrifying enough, especially considering that Chelsea will play in the Carabao Cup final the following Sunday.
Liverpool needs protection.
Interestingly, Michael Oliver did not receive a yellow card for either of the offenses that resulted in injuries to Jones or Jota.
That undoubtedly inspired Brentford to continue their harsh approach, and after Reguilon foolishly flew into Liverpool No. 84 earlier in the day, it nearly lost Klopp another player in Bradley.
If there had been a few yellow cards issued before that incident, the Spaniard might have reconsidered his challenge; therefore, it is evident that Liverpool could benefit from additional official protection.
In the hopes of having their injured players back as soon as possible, Liverpool will ideally have them back in time for Sunday’s Carabao Cup final against Chelsea.
