Raphael Varane believes Erik ten Hag is producing another incredible talent.
Raphael Varane, a defender for Manchester United, thinks that Willy Kambwala might be the next young talent from the academy to follow in Kobbie Mainoo’s footsteps and establish himself as a mainstay in the first team.
The 19-year-old has reportedly impressed Erik ten Hag and the senior team, as evidenced by the FA Cup and Premier League minutes he has already received this season. When United went to West Ham in December, at the height of their injury crisis, the young player was thrown into the starting lineup.
Even though United lost that game 2-0, supporters were eager to commend Kambwala for displaying the poise and self-assurance of a player who could compete at the highest levels. Varane seems to believe that anyhow, as he makes hints that the seasoned Frenchman may eventually take his place in the starting lineup.
Varane stated of his countryman, “He is displaying his qualities.” I believe he will play more games and keep becoming better. Despite his youth, he is displaying his abilities, and we have faith in him. He’s got a bright future.
This season, there has been much discussion over the former Real Madrid player’s future at Old Trafford as he momentarily lost his starting spot in the team. Clubs in Saudi Arabia made a move for him at the time, and they will probably try again in the summer. If the four-time Champions League winner decides to continue with United, Kambwala appears to be a ready-made substitute.

Standing at 6 feet 4 inches, the adolescent possesses the necessary physical attributes to succeed in the Premier League. Given that he passes out from the back and is extremely at ease on the ball, he is also ideally suited for the modern game. By managing Mainoo’s ascent from the academy to the first squad and solidifying Alejandro Garnacho as a vital member of the attack, Ten Hag has already demonstrated that he is willing to place his trust in young players.
By all accounts, Kambwala may be the next player on the United boss’s conveyor belt to jump up and take center stage.
The Dutchman’s remarks about the player before the December game against West Ham made it obvious that he was a fan. Ten Hag told TNT Sports, “He’s calm, he’s made a good impression in training.” Naturally, he lacks experience, and this is a significant occasion for him. He’s agile, and composed when handling the ball, and here is his chance.”
Not only Varane and Ten Hag have spoken well of the Frenchman, but an Old Trafford icon has also heaped praise upon him. Patrice Evra, a former left-back for the Red Devils, gave Kambwala his support. The two attended the same Les Ulis academy.
Earlier in the season, Kambwala stated that he was inspired by Evra after noticing his shirt next to a few other well-known players who had come out of Les Ulis. Evra quickly retorted, posting on Instagram, saying, “Purpose and love—that’s all we asked for.” Well done, Wills. You have my admiration.”
