Casemiro could be on his way out of the club after a disappointing second season at Old Trafford
In anticipation of a possible summer transfer, Al Nassr, a Saudi Pro League team, has reportedly increased their interest in Manchester United midfielder Casemiro.
After a miserable second season, the 32-year-old is poised to quit Old Trafford, and Al Nassr seems prepared to give Sir Jim Ratcliffe a much-needed cash boost. With their Premier League campaign potentially being their worst ever, United will need to make the necessary changes this summer, which will mean selling players.
The Premier League’s Profit and Sustainability Rules (PSR) and Financial Fair Play (FFP) regulations will presumably cap the club’s net spending at approximately £100 million. As far as MEN Sport is aware, INEOS has added everyone to the transfer list except for Rasmus Hojlund, Kobbie Mainoo, Alejandro Garnacho, and Andre Onana.
Along with Tom Heaton and Jonny Evans, Raphael Varane and Anthony Martial will aid in the clearout since their contracts are about to expire. But Casemiro is one of the well-known names on the market, along with Christian Eriksen, Mason Greenwood, and Jadon Sancho.
Additionally, it is said that the captain of Brazil is being prepared to make a big financial move to Saudi Arabia, where he may get to see Cristiano Ronaldo again. CaughtOffside claims that Al Nassr and Casemiro’s representatives had already discussed a summer transfer.
Two years after joining the Reds from Real Madrid in a £70 million transfer, the No. 18 is reportedly willing to take on a new challenge provided the price is right. The article also states that Al Nassr is prepared to provide United with an initial offer that is estimated to be in the neighbourhood of £34 million, along with a three-year contract.
It would break the record for the largest transfer fee ever obtained by United for a midfield player, which is presently held by Morgan Schneiderlin’s £24 million move to Everton in 2016. If Casemiro’s £34 million departure to the Middle East is finalised this summer, it would also rank as the club’s fourth-largest sale in its illustrious history.
Though there have been eighteen more high-profile transfers in world football since Ronaldo’s then-record £80 million move to Real Madrid in 2009, including Antony and Paul Pogba’s arrivals at United, the record still stands.
The next two transactions are Romelu Lukaku’s £74 million move to Inter Milan in 2019 and Angel di Maria’s £44 million steal from Paris Saint-Germain in 2015. With Casemiro out of the picture, United would have more money available for transfers and could sign at least one midfield player to infuse the engine room with more vigour and physicality.
