According to the Northern Echo, Manchester United and Newcastle United have not held any further negotiations to settle the dispute surrounding Dan Ashworth’s planned transfer to Old Trafford.
Since he informed Newcastle that he would desire to become Manchester United’s sporting director, Ashworth has been on gardening leave.
Manchester United allegedly only made an offer of £3 million, while Newcastle is demanding a sum of £20 million in exchange for his departure.
Although Ashworth has forced a move through by taking Newcastle to arbitration, there were hints that the two teams would soon come together to work out a settlement.
It has been asserted, nonetheless, that nothing has changed about Ashworth’s contentious divorce from Newcastle.
There have been no recent discussions between the two teams to settle the dispute and enable him to sign with Manchester United.
Newcastle is currently seeking to appoint a new sporting director and are in the process of recruiting Ashworth’s replacement.
It is anticipated that Newcastle will wish to expedite Ashworth’s exit as soon as a new sports director is appointed.
