One guy has already left Old Trafford as part of Manchester United’s summer purge, it has been revealed.
Man Utd announces players leaving
As their contracts at Old Trafford expire, Raphael Varane and Anthony Martial have already announced their departures from the Red Devils, who are in the midst of a team overhaul this summer.
Erik ten Hag is worried about his technical future after a poor Premier League season, but the FA Cup victory appears to have at least given him a reprieve.
However, the same cannot be true for his team. There could be ten or more players leaving this summer, including Scott McTominay, Aaron Wan-Bissaka, and Antony. It doesn’t matter who is in charge when the 2019 season officially begins.
Young prospect Omari Forson also appears ready to leave, but the club has stated that “discussions remain open” over the veteran tandem of Tom Heaton and Jonny Evans, who are both out of contract as of this summer.
More uncertainty surrounds Sofyan Amrabat as well. Two weeks ago, it appeared as though he would not be staying with the team after his loan from Fiorentina ended. Now, though, there seems to be less clarity surrounding his future at the club after an outstanding showing in the FA Cup final. But his midfield teammate is another story.
Casemiro leaving Manchester United
That coincides with reports that Brazilian midfielder Casemiro has already bid farewell to Old Trafford in preparation for a summer move. The former Real Madrid player received harsh criticism for his play in the second half of the season, especially in the crushing defeat of Crystal Palace by a score of 4-0.
“I believe Casemiro needs to be aware tonight that he should only have three more games remaining at the highest level. Jamie Carragher told Sky Sports that after the next two league games and the cup final, “he should be thinking, I need to go to the MLS or Saudi.”
Now, it appears that this is exactly what has happened, as the midfield player—who still has two years remaining on his £350,000-per-week contract at Old Trafford—is expected to be sold to several Saudi Arabian teams.
Football Transfers reports that he has already bid farewell to the remaining members of the Manchester United team and even to some of the staff at the celebration held after the team’s victory in the FA Cup final.
As the highest-paid player at the club, his exit would significantly reduce the pay bill and maybe generate a big transfer fee that could be used to rebuild the rest of the team more in accordance with Sir Jim Ratcliffe’s new philosophy.
