Apparently, someone threatened to shoot Jamaal Lascelles, the captain of Newcastle, during a violent mass brawl.
After having a night out in Newcastle with his younger brother and a friend, Lascelles was seen in the early morning hours of Sunday, August 20, beating off a group of men on camera. After a fight broke out outside The Mile Castle pub in the heart of Newcastle, which had just fallen to Manchester City 1-0, police were called to Westgate Road.
The Daily Mail reports that Lascelles’ 19-year-old brother was elbowed in the throat in what is said to have been an unprovoked incident shortly after leaving the Chinawhite nightclub. After being hit in the face with a bottle and being thrown in his way, the 29-year-old intervened to try to defend his brother.
Then, it is said, Lascelles, who appears to be wearing a green gilet, was observed pursuing some assailants before throwing fists in their direction. According to reports, the companion of the Newcastle defender was kicked in the head and left unconscious on the ground while his brother was bleeding from the face.

During the fight, it is alleged that one of the gang threatened to ‘shoot’ Lascelles and his group. Northumbria Police reportedly attended the scene, while paramedics treated Lascelles’ unconscious friend.
Mirror Football has contacted Northumbria Police and Newcastle United to request comment. No arrests have been made, while the club is aware of the incident.
Lascelles has yet to play for Newcastle this year and wasn’t used as a substitute in Newcastle’s loss to City prior to the fight. After the game, manager Eddie Howe gave the team two days off.
At St James’ Park on Sunday, Liverpool defeated Newcastle United 2-1, and he was back on the bench. Lascelles moved to Newcastle from Nottingham Forest in 2014, and in 2016 he was appointed captain. In 225 games for the team, he has scored 14 goals.
