Diogo Jota and Curtis Jones are both forced off in the first half of Liverpool’s Premier League clash against Brentford
Curtis Jones appeared to have injured his ankle, as he hobbled off the Gtech Community Stadium playing surface.
The midfielder was replaced by Ryan Gravenberch in the 33rd minute of play after tripping awkwardly following a seemingly harmless challenge that did not even result in a foul call.
Just before halftime Diogo Jota’s injury appeared to be much more serious.
Following a three-way collision that also included Alexis Mac Allister, Christian Norgaard dropped to his right knee, necessitating the Portuguese striker’s being carried off on a stretcher.
As a result, Mohamed Salah, who had sustained an injury of his own, returned to the team earlier than anticipated.
A LIST OF INJURIES GROWING
Liverpool will be extremely concerned by Jones and Jota’s departure as they continue to compete for four trophies.
With Trent Alexander-Arnold, Thiago Alcantara, and Dominik Szoboszlai sidelined due to injuries, Jurgen Klopp’s options, especially in the engine room, are beginning to run thin.
Before a timeline for Jones’ and Jota’s recovery can be established, testing will be conducted on both players after the game in West London to ascertain the extent of their injuries.
Either way, it appears that neither will be ready for Sunday’s Carabao Cup final against Chelsea.
